An engine crane is used to lift an engine out of a vehicle. Primarily found in professional auto motive garages.
What Is It?
An engine crane is usually a free standing device that is a series of chains and hydraulics. It is also called an engine hoist because of its ability to hoist an engine out of the vehicle. It is crafted out of steel and is set to lift a specific amount of weight. These devices can be fitted with wheels that lock and unlock so that the engine once it is hoisted out can be rolled away to a different work area. There are immobile devices as well that usually can lift heavier loads. They are bolted to the floor and have a permanent stand.
They are made to hoist engines out of the vehicles body so that the engine can be worked on with more room.
These machines are usually powered by electricity although some are still hand cranked and require a bit of upper body strength to get them to work properly.
